ESPN 9 Hole ESPY Mini Golf Challenge

How do you engage sports personalities, athletes, and corporate staff at the headquarters of ESPN in an enjoyable activity that is competitive but has a level playing field for all that participate?

The answer is creating a custom 9 hole mini golf rental with an overall par of 32. The premier hole of this rental was hole 2 with a par of 6 and a distance from tee to cup of approximately 60 feet. Hole 2 included several dog leg fairways both left & right, a wooden bridge with ESPN signage that you would putt over and then under on the way to the cup and plants to obscure your view of the overall hole.

The course included a branded ESPN Toll Booth, a branded Skee Ball Hole, a diamond fairway that had a plant in the middle which required the players to putt around, rocks on fairways leading up to the cup and a hole behind a floating buoy.

Over the course of 1 full day on the center plaza at the headquarters of ESPN in Bristol, CT, staff, athletes and recognizable sports anchors competing on what became to be called the ESPN mini golf challenge. Tee times started at 8:00 AM and did not conclude until 8:00 PM that night with the final foursome playing as the sun went down.

ESPN besides using this as an employee engagement also used the mini golf rental as a fundraising activity for The Jimmy V Foundation during the week of the ESPYS.
